Mark 14:  ^32-34They came to an area called Gethsemane. Jesus told his disciples, "Sit here while I pray." He took Peter, James, and John with him. He plunged into a sinkhole of dreadful agony. He told them, "I feel bad enough right now to die. Stay here and keep vigil with me."  ^35-36Going a little ahead, he fell to the ground and prayed for a way out: "Papa, Father, you can—can't you?—get me out of this. Take this cup away from me. But please, not what I want—what do you want?"  ^37-38He came back and found them sound asleep. He said to Peter, "Simon, you went to sleep on me? Can't you stick it out with me a single hour? Stay alert, be in prayer, so you don't enter the danger zone without even knowing it. Don't be naive. Part of you is eager, ready for anything in God; but another part is as lazy as an old dog sleeping by the fire."  ^39-40He then went back and prayed the same prayer.  The Message Translation

Jesus is showing us his very human traits of seeking to avoid the pain of the crucifixion. But Jesus is totally submitted to his Father. Jesus focused on the goal ahead and the victory making the cost worth the pain and suffering He knew he was facing.

• March 19 & 20 -- Hello my sisters, I wanted to give you some information on our Women's Retreat coming up in a few weeks. The theme is "Pulling Weeds and Planting Seeds" and will center around lies we believe (weeds) and replacing them with God's truth (seeds) about His love for us.  It will be held at the Latham Spring Camp (about 30-40 minutes from here), Friday night and Saturday until mid-afternoon, March 19-20. The speaker is Kim Booker, women's minister at Acts Christian Fellowship. The cost is $39 and includes lodging, three meals and all retreat materials. Scholarships are available if you would like to go but need some help with part or all of the cost.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or e-mail me. • SUNDAY -- There will be a Benevolence offering to proactively help those in need in our community.  It will be taken at the close of the service.
• Contact Lynn or Helen Moss if you have skills you would like to share with the church.  They will be matching people in need with the abundant skill set contained in our church to help our church family and those in need. 
• YOUR CHANGE FOR GOD’s CHANGE – please continue to bring your loose coins to church to be collected for our 2010 mission trip.  There is a jar to collect your change available in the church entry way.
