Needs for Today 01-15-2006

 

Fellow Believers,

I have been studying prayer in the New Testament, mostly Paul’s introductory prayers to the believers in different regions. I’ve found that the majority (not all) but the majority of these prayers focus on righteousness, holiness, understanding and blessings that will last for eternity, and not temporal blessings. “Lord, teach us to pray”

 

“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. (Matthew 6:6)

 

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1:9-11)

 

For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. (Colossians 1:9-12)

 

Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. (Colossians 4:12)

 

Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12)

Pray for our Congregation, our Leaders, our Elders, and our Pastor – knowledge, discernment, be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding

Pray for our President, our Military, our Country - stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

Pray for Missionaries - being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;

Pray for me - that I may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness.
